Coming up in the Virtual Digital Scholar Studio Wednesday, October 6, 2021, 2:30-3:30PM

This workshop will teach individual privacy techniques for every day use. Participants will develop an understanding of digital privacy and related laws and learn about threat modeling in order to assess the level of risk they are comfortable with. Participants will also learn how to develop their own security plan that includes techniques addressing surveillance, tracking, and collection of personally identifiable information. A few of the privacy topics covered in this workshop include research data, passwords, browser settings and options, smartphone privacy, and social media interactions.

About the presenter: 

Kelley Rowan is the Digital Archives Librarian in the Digital Collections Center at FIU. She serves as the ETD librarian, publishing all university theses and dissertations and manages various collections in dPanther, the digital repository. Her research interests include the science of survey creation, copyright, and privacy. Look for her recurring workshops on these topics through FIU’s Digital Scholar Studio.
